Alexander Devine Children's Hospice Service is a charity that provides free specialist palliative care for children and support to their families in the Berkshire area and is raising funds to build Berkshire's first hospice for children - our latest news is that building work is due to start at the end of September! John and Fiona Devine, from Windsor, set up Alexander Devine Children's Hospice Service in memory of their extraordinary little boy who passed away in early 2006 from a rare brain tumour, aged only 8 years old. Their personal experience, and subsequent extensive research, led them to realise that there was a vital need for a Berkshire children's hospice. The charity already funds Alexander's Nurses, specialising in children's palliative care and working with children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions and supporting their families in their own homes right across Berkshire and the bordering areas of surrounding counties. It now needs to raise £5m to build Berkshire's first hospice for children. A six-acre site near Maidenhead has been donated and planning permission has been granted. Our founder patron is Sir Michael Parkinson and the Home Secretary, the Rt Hon Theresa May, MP for Maidenhead, is also a patron. To find out how you could be part of this amazing story by becoming a Corporate Partner or by choosing us as your Charity Of The Year, email [email protected] Like us on Facebook to find out how our supporters are raising money to help build Berkshire's first hospice for children. Thank you for helping us to build Berkshire's children's hospice.
