Therapeutic Riding is the core program of Prospect Mountain Therapeutic Riding Center. The curriculum provides goal oriented, equine assisted therapies for persons with physical, intellectual and/or psychological challenges. NARHA certified instructors provide written lesson plans based on both therapeutic needs and the skill level of each individual student. Instructors create a wide variety of games and exercises designed to increase the student's ability to listen, learn and communicate. The rider learns riding skills that influence the movement of the horse thus generating an independent and self worth experience.Improved quality of life for our students and their families, Riders develop self esteem, confidence, and self-reliance. Riders build healthy social relationships through interaction with peers, horses and volunteers Education received regarding training,upkeep and care of horses. Workshops, lectures and educational studies offered. Scholarship Program – This Program was initiated when we realized the lack of financial sources facing so many of our rural participants. Families with disabled children or children with special needs face a tremendous stress in finding and paying for services for their children. Our goal is to provide therapeutic riding lessons needed by children with disabilities, regardless of their financial status.
