Carl Dress and Leila Hamroun, with Richard Ortega, are pleased to announce the start of the Heritage Design Collaborative (HDC), their new venture dedicated to providing consulting services in architecture and engineering. At the Heritage Design Collaborative the partners represent over eighty years of combined experience in all aspects of the stewardship of historic properties and buildings. Carl, Leila and Rick bring together their exceptional individual skill sets in order to provide clients with expertise in building diagnostics and architectural conservation as well as the planning, programming, design and implementation of preservation projects. They have extensive, award-winning, portfolios containing projects ranging from vernacular architecture to national historic landmarks, with a client list including fellow designers, small non-profit organizations, large institutions and government agencies. Over the past two years, during which the three formed the senior leadership of the preservation studio at RMJM (previously Hillier ARCHITECTURE), their varied and complementary skill sets grew into a true partnership of dedicated design professionals. They are committed to custom-tailored solutions, developed through a collaborative engagement of clients, using agencies and designers. Their combination of career experiences and expertise provides a unique, multi-disciplinary understanding of the broad range and complexity of architectural and engineering issues facing designers, owners, managers and using agencies. What makes our approach distinctive is our experience in understanding and defining the problems unique to a wide range of construction types, periods and methodologies. Creative and careful problem solving that suit both the building needs and the client needs will be a hallmark of the Heritage Design Collaborative.
