The mission of the Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM) is to provide exceptionally talented students from around the world an outstanding, thoroughly professional education in the art of music performance and related musical disciplines. The Institute embraces the legacy of the past and promotes the continuing evolution of music within a supportive and nurturing environment.
Degree programs offered by CIM include: Bachelor of Music; Master of Music; Doctor of Musical Arts. These programs are offered through a collaboration with Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) providing the resources of both a professional music school and a large university. CWRU music students study performance and music theory at CIM, while CIM students study music history, music education and liberal arts at CWRU. Joint degrees are also available.
The Institute also provides rigorous training for individuals of all ages and abilities through its preparatory and continuing education programs.
CIM students and faculty are actively involved in community outreach through workshops, presentations and hundreds of free concerts that they perform throughout the year.
