The Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) is a pediatric health and research center providing outstanding patient care, pioneering breakthrough research, and training the health care professionals of tomorrow. Affiliated with the University of Ottawa and the CHEO Research Institute, CHEO has established itself as a world-class centre providing leading-edge treatment, diagnostic and laboratory services for children and youth. We have 165-beds and more than 180 doctors, 600 nurses and 1,500 additional staff dedicated to providing the best possible care. CHEO is one of only a few stand-alone pediatric hospitals in Canada, and sees more than 6,000 admissions, 7,000 surgeries and 60,000 emergency visits each year. What makes CHEO unique is both the type of care we provide and the passion with which we provide it. CHEO acts as both a regional hospital for a broad geographic region and a center of excellence for complex and specialized care for kids with serious health conditions. We take great pride in both these roles, and have helped very sick children at every stage of development – some over-coming tremendous obstacles. CHEO recognizes families as our partners, which is why we deliver family-centered care. Patients and families receive comprehensive treatment with the upmost respect to their unique needs and preferences. Our staff and physicians are passionate in their work – every day making it possible for kids to get healthy, stay healthy and thrive.
