Established in 1894, the Sacramento Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Sacramento SPCA) is dedicated to ensuring the humane treatment of all animals in the Sacramento region. As an independent non-profit organization it receives no government funding and relies on private donations from the local community to care for the more than 11,000 animals that come to its shelter each year.
