Toronto Kiwanis Boys & Girls Clubs is a leader in providing safe, supervised after-school care for children and youth. We serve two communities in Toronto's inner-city – Regent Park and Trinity Bellwoods. Founded in 1920, we are one of the oldest clubs in the country and have served more than 50,000 children. Over the course of a year, we serve over 1,100 children and youth between the ages of 6 – 18. Our after-school programs run from 3 p.m -7 p.m., the time when the youth crime rate sky-rockets. Our Clubs offer children and youth a safe place to channel their energy and introduce them to challenging activities that encourage healthy living, personal growth, learning, and community involvement. Our programs focus on literacy & learning; nutrition & cooking; creative arts; physical activity; and personal development. When we work with young people and their families, we enable them to develop the life skills, knowledge and civic values essential to becoming healthy contributing individuals. A major key to our success is the quality and quantity of our youth leadership. We are the largest employer of youth in the downtown east. Part-time youth staff are our front-line mentors, supervisors and they provide valuable insights into the communities we serve. It is through the generosity of our supporters and community partners that Toronto Kiwanis Boys & Girls Clubs remains a "good place to be" for inner-city children and youth.
