The Fraunhofer IPMS is dedicated to applied research and development at the highest international level in the fields of photonic microsystems, microsystems technologies, nanoelectronic technologies and wireless microsystems. The institute has two facilities with a 150/200 mm cleanroom and a 300 mm cleanroom including state-of-the-art euipment for research and order processing. Regarding micromechanical and photonic microsystems we offer complete solutions: From conception to component right up to complete systems. This includes sample and pilot production in our 1500 m² (15,000 ft²) clean room (ISO 14644-1 class 4) with qualified processes. Our new business unit Center Nanoelectronic Technologies CNT provides services in the field of nano and microelectronics with functional electronic materials, processes and systems, device and integration, maskless lithography and analytics. Another 800 m² of clean room space (ISO 14644-1 class 6) is available for this purpose, along with analysis and metrology processes with atomic resolution and high sensitivity. The Fraunhofer IPMS is one of 67 institutes of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, the leading organization for applied research in Germany, and also in Europe. It is devoted to research of practical utility. Relying on 13,000 employees, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft has a research budget of 1.3 billion euros. Two thirds of this sum are generated through industrial commissions and publicly financed research projects. The remainder is contributed by the Federal Government and the Länder as basic funding. The Fraunhofer IPMS is part of the Fraunhofer Group Microelectronics (german abbreviation: VµE), and is engaged in various regional and international networks in the filed microsystems and photonics. The Fraunhofer IPMS is certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2008.
