Lincolnshire West Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) work to buy and improve healthcare services for 240,000 residents in Lincoln, Gainsborough and surrounding areas. As commissioners we work in partnership with 37 GP practices to understand the needs of the patient population and identify how services can be improved based on their experiences. We then commission healthcare providers to deliver these services, including hospital trusts, community and mental health services, private providers, and voluntary organisations. Everyone has the opportunity to have a say in which healthcare services should be commissioned. One of the best ways is to join your local GP practices Patient Participation Group, who meet on a regular basis to discuss healthcare issues. This information then gets fed back directly to the CCG. The CCG is one of four across Lincolnshire, and more than 200 countrywide. To understand more about where the NHS is now and how all the different organisations fit and work together, we recommend 'An alternative guide to the NHS' by The King's Fund which you can watch via the following link: https://vimeo.com/69224754.
