Founded in 2011, Coalition for Queens (C4Q) is a community-based nonprofit organization that works to foster the Queens tech ecosystem to increase economic opportunity and transform the world's most diverse community into a leading hub for innovation and entrepreneurship. C4Q's innovative model uses tech as a vehicle to tackle difficult social problems. C4Q's community-driven approach includes the following areas of focus: Economic Mobility and Opportunity: Access Code is a tech education and entrepreneurship program that seeks to fill the skilled workforce gap and increase diversity in tech by providing high-quality tech education and job placement to those who traditionally lack access, including women, minorities, and immigrants. Advocacy and Community Planning: C4Q is spearheading the Queens Tech Zone Strategic Plan, a comprehensive plan to foster the tech industry and economic development in Queens, with support from the Governor's Office, Queens Borough President's Office, Cornell NYC Tech, and Empire State Development. Community Building: C4Q organizes events for tech companies and entrepreneurs, such as Queens Tech Meetup, a monthly gathering of tech industry entrepreneurs and professionals, which has grown to over 3,000 members.
