The Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences (NIAS-KNAW) offers residential fellowships of three, five or ten months to individuals and groups of researchers. It provides a place to think, study and write, and the opportunity to interact with colleagues from around the world. NIAS stimulates advanced research and scientific innovation, with a focus on humanities and social sciences. NIAS strives to connect disciplines and to revitalise the links between sciences and arts. Our goal is to attract excellent scholars and offer them the space and time to reflect and interact and so NIAS can facilitate new research paths and encourage lasting cooperation. NIAS is an institute of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW). As an independent IAS, it is member of several international networks, including SIAS, an informal consortium of Some Institutes for Advanced Study and NetIAS, a network of European Institutes for Advanced Study.
