The Guinness PRO14 is a professional club rugby competition with 14 clubs from Ireland, Italy, Scotland, South Africa & Wales participating. With the addition of two South African teams before the 2017/18 season the league has moved to a conference format with 7 teams in each conference. These conferences are based on the previous seasons rankings to ensure competitive balance. The Championship is played in two stages, the Regular Season (21 Rounds) and the Final Series (Quarter Finals, Semi-Finals and Final). The top three clubs in each conference at the end of the season contest the Final Series which ends with the Guinness PRO14 Final. The current holders of the Guinness PRO14 are Scarlets Rugby who won their the Championship title against Munster Rugby at Dublin's Aviva Stadium in front of a record crowd of over 45,000 people in May 2017.
