The North London International School is one of ten accredited international schools based in the United Kingdom. It is an International Baccalaureate World School and its 400 students aged from 2 to 18 follow the IB curriculum. The school works in partnership with its sister school in New York called The Dwight School which is located on Central Park West in Manhattan. Both schools have a common aim: ‘To uncover the spark of genius that exists in every child and to use that to create a better world.' NLIS prides itself on the warm, positive atmosphere that it has created and its capability to recognise students as individuals with varying strengths and talents. More than 40 nationalities are represented in the school and a strong induction and transition programme is in place. International visits and exchanges are important at NLIS. Younger pupils take full advantage of the school's London location and as they become older there are residential visits to the US, the Netherlands, France and Spain. There are student exchanges with The Dwight School in New York and Casuarinas College in Peru and students are also encouraged to join the expeditions to Cambodia to take part in a village house building project. Preparing students for transition to other international schools is a strong feature of NLIS and admittance to university, either in the UK or elsewhere, is a priority. The school has an excellent record of university admissions. The Head of School, David Rose has taught internationally for more than 25 years with assignments in Sweden, Pakistan, Cyprus, Germany and the US. David has been Head of Montgomery School near Hannover in Germany, Headmaster at the British School of Houston in Texas and now Head of The North London International School. David is currently Chair of the London International Schools Association (LISA) a group which includes all major UK international schools and about 5000 students.
