For almost two decades, Community Psychiatry has been improving access to psychiatry through cooperative relationships with physicians, psychotherapists, hospitals, and insurers. Our group has now grown to over 20 private practice offices throughout California. With one phone call, most patients are scheduled for an appointment with a psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner who accepts their insurance within 10 to 14 business days. If the patient and their provider decide that psychotherapy may be helpful, our office will suggest a psychotherapist for referral. Community Psychiatry provides care to patients of all ages and all diagnoses. In addition to psychiatry, we offer alternative or adjunct programs to meet the needs of all our patients. In the Sacramento area, we offer a Mindfulness class which teaches tools for reducing symptoms of depression, anxiety, pain, and chronic illness utilizing a combination of meditation and cognitive behavioral therapy. Classes are held in Roseville and taught by Dr. Eugene Fealk. We also offer a telemedicine program which was initially designed to give rural communities without available psychiatric care access to the expertise of our psychiatrists. After realizing the incredible potential of the program, we have expanded to also serve health centers and college campuses using computers, tablets, and even cell phones. In the event that a patient cannot keep an appointment or needs face to face medication management advice between appointments, some providers use telemedicine to conduct a session from the patient's home. We strive to create a positive, welcoming environment for our patients, providers, and staff.
