The Cookbook Project (CBP) is a global food literacy and cooking education non-profit (501c3) organization based in the United States. Our mission is to create healthier and sustainable communities through food literacy and cooking education. To achieve this goal, CBP utilizes a 3-tiered impact model that trains community-based leaders as Food Literacy Educators. These Food Literacy Educators (FLEDs) work with at-risk populations in the school and enrichment education setting and ultimately empower youth and families how to navigate ‘food deserts' in low-income areas. Our goal is to create a global grassroots network of programs to empower participants to take charge of their own nutrition and health choices in a sustainable manner. Through these programs we have trained over 450 Local Leaders and have reached an estimated 6,000 youth. To date we have also lead on-site projects and community trainings in Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, India, Haiti, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Bostwana, South Africa, Indonesia, and several projects in the United States.
