Our Mission: Through Joyful Learning and Discovery, we grow minds, connect families and transform communities. Our Vision: As a premier educational resource we develop innovative thinkers capable of meeting the challenges of the 21st century. What We Do: - Educator professional development - Out-of-school learning experiences for kids, including field experiences, camps and weekly course offerings - Outreach opportunities for students & families - Parent and caregiver education - Programming for kids and families with special needs About Us: San Antonio's museum for kids, The DoSeum, opened on June 6, 2015. It is comprised of a series of three, two-story exhibit halls totaling 65,000 square feet. Between each exhibit hall, glass facades create daylight-flooded transitional spaces that connect visitors to the additional 39,000 square feet of outdoor exhibit yards. Envisioned as a museum set in a park, the building is surrounded by meandering pathways that offer a sense of surprise, beautiful gardens that captivate the senses and shady places for families to relax or for school groups to unwind. With six major permanent exhibition spaces, a 3,000-square-foot temporary exhibit space, and 39,000 square feet of outdoor exhibit yards, The DoSeum has much to discover and explore, allowing kids to create and learn on a grand scale. Our Roots: The San Antonio Children's Museum was founded, in September of 1995, by a group of dedicated volunteers committed to building a community space dedicated to early childhood development. Our exhibits and programs focused then as they do now, on early childhood learning, especially in the creative arts, sciences and early literacy. For over 20 years, through interactive play, the museum inspired a journey of life-long learning, ultimately enriching lives and positively impacting the San Antonio community and beyond.
