Formed in 1975 by area residents, churches and government leaders, Community Residences (CR) was established to support individuals with mental illnesses. Today, CR provides a variety of supports and services to over 800 individuals each year: those with mental illness and/or intellectual/development disabilities, youth transitioning to independence, individuals and families in crisis and adults living with HIV/AIDS. We are one of the largest providers of supports to individuals with in Virginia, serving residents in Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William and Chesterfield Counties, and in Maryland's Anne Arundel, Montgomery and Baltimore Counties. In pursuit of our mission, CR contributes through the provision of medical, therapeutic, educational, vocational, residential and integrative recreational services to the formation of vital relational communities through which our consumers experience greater independence, dignity, fulfillment and happiness.
