For more than 50 years, the bipartisan Little Hoover Commission, formally known as the Milton Marks 'Little Hoover' Commission on California State Government Organization and Economy, has served as an independent voice for government reform, advising the Governor, Legislature and state government executives on ways to improve how state government works. The Commission is known statewide and inside the Capitol for its investigative reviews of state government operations that identify ways to improve program outcomes, increase government transparency and reduce expenditures without sacrificing services. The Commission's work also helps to eliminate duplication or wasteful practices, consolidate services or abolish, create and reorganize government agencies to better meet the needs of Californians.
