Ontario Students Against Impaired Driving, an independent registered Canadian charity, is a provincial youth driven organization that strives to promote smart decisions through public awareness in a realistic and relevant manner to prevent tragedies caused by impaired driving. Impaired driving is not only about drivers who have had too much to drink. Impairment involves any substance or circumstance which renders the driver unable to control the vehicle. Unsafe driving practices are also responsible for teen driving fatality and injury. OSAID addresses the issues of texting and driving, speeding, street racing, seatbelt use, and drug use while driving. OSAID reaches more than 300,000 students annually. Over the past decade OSAID has graduated over 20,000 youth leaders who are now living, working, and driving in every community throughout Ontario. OSAID presently manages over 400 OSAID chapters and 5000 volunteers annually utilizing 200,000 volunteer hours toward reducing driver-risk and injury in the province of Ontario. These youth launch motivational and educational campaigns to promote a practical and responsible driver-safety message to a hard to reach audience -their peers. OSAID Inc's elected and appointed volunteer adult Board of Directors works with the Executive Director and elected Student Provincial Regional Representatives to plan, direct and implement all of OSAID Inc's programs.
