The Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM) deals with issues in the telecommunications, broadcasting and postal services sectors. It is part of the Swiss Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (DETEC). OFCOM's tasks include the regulation of telecommunications systems, the awarding of radio and television licenses, supervising the collection of reception fees, assessing requests for indirect press subsidies and performing surveillance of the universal service in relation to payment transactions. OFCOM is committed to balancing private and professional life and has received the 'Familie UND Beruf [Family AND Career]' award. The Office‘s efforts in favour of multilingualism have also been recognised with the bilingualism award.
