Computer Assistance in Image-Based Diagnosis and Therapy Fraunhofer MEVIS is one of the leading global and internationally networked research and development centers for computer assistance in image-based medicine. It follows a patient-centered and workflow-oriented approach to resolve clinically relevant issues in image-based diagnosis and therapy. Fraunhofer MEVIS focuses on epidemiologically significant diseases of the cardiovascular system, the brain, liver and lung, as well as oncological disorders. Fraunhofer MEVIS has established a quality-assured innovation chain from basic research to clinical prototypes to product development for medical devices. In addition, Fraunhofer MEVIS maintains a global network of clinical partners, and scientific and academic institutions. The institute has especially close relationships with the University of Bremen, the Jacobs University, the University of Luebeck and the University of Applied Sciences Bremerhaven. Fraunhofer MEVIS was founded in August, 1995 in Bremen as a non-profit limited liability company MeVis Research and later integrated as an institute of the Fraunhofer Society on January 1, 2009. The work of Fraunhofer MEVIS is supervised by an international advisory board.
