For over 100 years, the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine (CDM) has advanced the practice, research, and teaching of dental medicine. Guided by founder Dr. William J. Gies' assertions that oral health is integral to overall health and thus dentistry should be taught within an academic medical center, CDM draws upon Columbia's vast intellectual resources to advance oral health research and care. CDM seeks to attract a diverse faculty and student body, to foster a supportive and intellectually challenging academic environment, and to improve oral health for all. We cultivate partnerships across disciplines and continents to fulfill research, educational, and social justice goals.
