Located in North Philadelphia, Gesu School is an independent Catholic School (pre-K to 8th grade) serving 450 students. Inspired by the Jesuit and IHM traditions of social justice, faith, hope and love, Gesu School strives, without selective admissions, to provide a quality, innovative education for our neighbor children to empower them to break the cycle of poverty and violence. In a city where the public high school graduation rate hovers around 65%, approximately 90% of Gesu alumni graduate high school on time — many from prestigious prep and charter schools. Admission is non-selective and students are accepted on a first-come first-served basis. There are no entrance exams to qualify for enrollment; however, priority is given to families residing in the immediate Gesu School neighborhood, which includes the three poorest zip codes in the City of Philadelphia.
