Started in 1991 by four local Christians who took soup, blankets and sleeping bags to the seafront to offer to local homeless people. From this small beginning Worthing Churches Homeless Projects was born. Today we have grown to have 60 staff members and over 200 volunteers and provides a range of services, which offer opportunities to regain independence:- St Clare's Day Centre - open every day of the year, providing hot and cold food, drinks, showers, a change of clothes, washing and drying facilities, medical services, chiropody, hairdressing, advice and support. The Short Term Assessment Hostel - allows people to stay for up to 12 weeks and work with staff to begin the task of rebuilding their lives and regaining their independence. The Stepping Stones project, enables clients to spend up to 9 months brushing up the skills they'll need to live in their own accommodation. The Recovery Project - clients are given an opportunity, with structured supervision, to gain control over their addictions. The Move On Project – a 5 bed property allowing clients the opportunity to explore independent living. Oxford House - The Oxford House is a recovery community for four clients. It provides long term accommodation, relapse prevention and support and access to the staff at the recovery project. Community Housing - Worthing Churches Homeless Projects has 5 houses providing long term shared accommodation for 22 vulnerable adults. The properties are for independent living. Littlehampton services - In Littlehampton we run The Breakfast Club for vulnerable people living in challenging circumstances. As well as breakfast, the club provides a much needed lifeline for these clients, enabling us to offer them support and advice.. Also, in Littlehampton we have recovery housing. Last year we worked with just over 1100 people. From such humble beginnings, we are now experts in our field. Do get to know us better!
