Base FX is the leading visual effects studio in Asia, with more than 50 US theatrical film credits including Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Transformers: Age of Extinction, GI Joe Retaliation, Identity Thief, Pacific Rim, Looper, and Super 8. The Company has also worked with some of the top directors in China, including Zhang Yimou (Flowers of War), Chen Kaige (Sacrifice), Jia Zhangke (A Touch of Sin), Lu Chuan (The Last Supper), Xue Xiaolu (Finding Mr. Right), Ning Hao (Breakup Buddies) and Raman Hui (Monster Hunt). In 2010, Base won an Emmy for Outstanding Special Visual Effects on HBO's The Pacific. The following year Base won its second Emmy for Martin Scorsese's Boardwalk Empire, and a third one in 2014 for its work on Starz's pirate adventure series Black Sails. In 2012, Base signed a Strategic Alliance Agreement with Lucasfilm and Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), bringing a new level of excellence to its creative pipeline. At the Beijing Film Festival on April 18, 2013, the two companies signed an expanded co-operation deal that secures the exclusive use of the Base's services for all ILM's Hollywood films. On 20th April 2015, Base jointly founded China Post Production Alliance (CPPA) at the 5th Beijing International Film Festival to promote and enhance the development of visual effects in China.
