More People, More Information, Better Health. — The primary goal of HHP's portal is to meet patients where they are and provide information not tied to any institution, but mostly given by peer support. Health decisions do not happen in a vacuum and, with almost 60% of Americans searching online for health information, this need will continue to rise. In developing nations, and some communities in the USA, those who need health advice may have more access to the Internet than a doctor. HHP empowers these individuals to find information and engage in discussions about their health condition, discovering more about conventional and complementary health information and receiving encouragement to act to improve their health. — By removing both the hard sell and the stigma of talking to medical institutions, and offering support from people who have experience with similar health problems, HHP aims to provide a safe and unbiased forum for those who can share information connect. — Studies show that those living with chronic health conditions benefit by support of others. By creating a community around health conditions, HHP can aid in forming beneficial behaviors like adhering to proper diets, obtaining timely medical care, completing treatment plans and peace of mind. The support can extend to caregivers, who are often isolated when caring for someone with a serious health condition. Support and community can quite literally be a lifesaver.
