Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Inspector General is an independent, objective agency within DHS that is responsible for protecting the homeland and serving the taxpayer by promoting economy and efficiency and detecting and preventing fraud, waste, and abuse. We are a staff of over 600 employees headquartered in Washington, DC, and located in field offices throughout the country. We conduct independent audits, inspections, and evaluations of DHS programs and operations. We investigate criminal and administrative wrongdoing by DHS employees and contractors. Our oversight responsbility includes DHS and all of its components, including CBP, Coast Guard, FEMA, ICE, Secret Service, TSA, and USCIS. Our reports are provided to Congress and the public on our website, www.oig.dhs.gov.
