Founded 35-years-ago, Art in Action (AiA) provides classroom lessons that inspire critical thinking and creativity with engaging visual arts experiences. Students learn about STEAM, cultural understanding, social justice, healing through art, art appreciation and technique. AiA empowers students to express unique ideas and develop 21st Century skills through hands-on-learning. Arts are no longer guaranteed in schools. Due to limited funding, schools rely on outside support or are forced to eliminate their arts programming altogether leaving 6 million childr without an arts education. AiA provides robust curricular lessons designed to ignite children's imaginations to become innovators, creators, and leaders of tomorrow. AiA's mission is to deliver complete K-8 visual arts experiences by providing a time-tested curriculum, materials, and training. In the 2017-2018 academic year, AiA is serving 38 classrooms in three schools in East Palo Alto totaling 1,008 children. This year AiA is engaging approximately 100,000 K-8 students in over 2500 classrooms nationwide.
