The State University of New York (SUNY) is the largest comprehensive system of higher education in the United States, educating nearly 450,000 students in more than 7,000 degree and certificate programs on 64 college and university campuses in New York State, and online through Open SUNY. There are 3 million SUNY alumni worldwide. SUNY's 64 campuses are divided into four categories, based on educational mission, the kinds of academic opportunities available, and degrees offered. They are: Community Colleges, Technology Colleges, Comprehensive Colleges, Research & University Centers.
