For many people in African townships, accessing the internet means a long and expensive journey to a city centre using public transport. This can mean hours of lost time and most are deterred from getting online. Seacom's East African undersea cable opened in 2009 will vastly improve the quality of data services but the cost of home computers remains out of reach for most. At Clouds, we provide affordable neighborhood internet facilities to urban areas in which home PC's are virtually unavailable at present. Our vision is for every neighborhood in Africa to have affordable internet facilities, no further away than a 15 minute walk from home.
