Bonn International School is a learning community that empowers and inspires excellence in all that we do. We provide an innovative, internationally-recognized education within a compassionate, multicultural community. BIS is a result of the merger of the former Bonn American High School, American Elementary School and British High School. The roots of these three schools go back 65 years and draw on a much longer history. Enrollment for 2017-2018: 700 students, aged 3 to 19 years, from 75 different countries, with 40+ languages. The largest groups represented in 2016-2017: were from Germany, USA, GB, France, Spain, Italy, China, India, and the Netherlands. Curriculum: IB World School, we offer the Primary Years (PYP), Middle Years (MYP) and Diploma Programmes (DP). Fully accredited by the International Baccalaureate Organization, Council of International Schools and New England Association of Schools and Colleges. Technology: More than 350 computers and 600 iPads used from Early Learning 3/4 to Grade 8. Two computer labs, two laptop carts, a Media Centre full of computers, laptops and iPads, internet resources and interactive whiteboards or AppleTV/Beamer setups in every classroom; all Apple platform. A BYOD program in Grades 9 - 12 is in place so that students bring their own laptops. Faculty: 80 teachers and 11 teacher assistants. Class size: Average 18 students, maximum of 22 students per class. Student/teacher ratio: ca. 9:1 in Primary School and 8:1 in Secondary School. Counselling: Counsellors support both Primary and Secondary students with their social and emotional needs. Extracurricular Programme: Competitive and social sports, dance, drama, vocal and instrumental music, musical theatre, scouts, TedXYouth, Student Council, Model United Nations, mathematics teams, homework club, science clubs, crafts, etc.
