Mission New Visions for Public Schools is dedicated to ensuring that all New York City public school students, regardless of race or economic class, have access to a quality education and can graduate prepared for college, career, and life. We design, create, and sustain effective public schools for students in high-need neighborhoods across New York City, serving 79 district and charter schools and reaching approximately 42,000 traditionally underserved students every year. Seeking to transform the lives of students beyond New Visions' schools and guide broader reform efforts, we continuously share our innovative tools, strategies, and lessons learned with practitioners across the country. History / Background For more than twenty years, New Visions for Public Schools (New Visions) has focused its efforts on providing innovative solutions to deeply entrenched problems within New York City's public schools through school creation, data-driven instructional and leadership supports, and applied research. Currently, New Visions serves as an Affinity Group for 69 public schools, operates ten exemplary charter schools, and runs evidence-based teacher and principal development programs. We support approximately 47,000 students across New York City and have achieved significant and consistent results in each of our major strands of work. Currently, we operate as both an Affinity Group and Charter Management Organization (CMO) – the only hybrid organization of its kind serving both public district and charter students.
