The Torngat Joint Fisheries Board and the Torngat Wildlife and Plants Co-Management Board are Institutions of Public Government created in Chapters 12 and 13 of the 2005 Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement. Both boards primary work is making recommendations to the relevant Federal, Provincial, and or Nunatsiavut Minister on the conservation of fish, fish habitat, aquatic plants, wildlife and plant species within and adjacent to the Labrador Inuit Settlement Area. The Secretariat is the implementation agent of the Torngat Joint Fisheries Board and the Torngat Wildlife and Plants Co-management Board. The Secretariat is a team of professionals based in Happy Valley-Goose Bay that provides leadership, financial management, logistical, project management and analytical support to both boards.
