JANA's 15+ years of product validation work with pipeline material suppliers and manufacturers naturally led us to pipeline Asset Management, linking together the two ends of the value chain. We stay current with, and help lead, industry developments through active involvement in the ISO TC251 Asset Management subcommittee, AGA's Plastic Materials Committee and Transmission Committee, CSA Z662, CGA, WEI and MEA. In addition, Mr. Wayne Bryce, President of JANA, is a member of the Gas Piping Technology Committee (GPTC). Our Asset Management philosophy is in alignment with ISO 55000 (PAS-55), a 'what to do'â€‹ (i.e. not 'how to do'â€‹) standard for Asset Management. This philosophy is supported by a structured, disciplined approach. At JANA, we believe Asset Management must be predicated on measuring risk. This includes all types of risk â€” public safety through long-term corporate business viability. And, to properly assess risk, a robust but utilitarian model of pipeline risk must be employed. JANA developed Mechanistic-Probabilistic Empirical Modeling Technology for pipelines which allows forecasting with confidence 20 â€“ 30 years forward. JANA has led Asset Management initiatives with leading utilities in North America, including plastic pipe, steel pipe, cast iron pipe, joints & fittings, valves & tapping tees, etc, such that engineers better understand the components in their systems, the nature of its failures and the operational and procedural mechanisms that impact pipeline lifetime.
