Located in Hong Kong, with a study centre in Hangzhou, CIS is a private, not-for-profit co-educational school with 1,500 students in Reception to Year 13 (Pre-K to Grade12). Established in 1983 as Hong Kong's first school teaching an international curriculum in English and Mandarin, CIS has become a flagship school for Hong Kong with an outstanding track record of well-rounded academic achievement. Graduates go on to leading universities worldwide, with approximately 50% choosing the US, 30% the UK, and 10% each Hong Kong and Canada. COMMUNITY The community is extremely stable. Student turnover is approximately 5% per year while the average teacher and staff is ten years. About 30 nationalities are represented. MANDARIN & IB PROGRAMMES CIS students develop a strong command of English and Mandarin, pursuing both through all year levels. In Secondary, Chinese is pursued as one of the subject areas and students spend a boarding year in Year 10 (Grade 9) at the Hangzhou CIS study centre.
