Pride Toronto is the not-for-profit organization that hosts Pride Week, an annual event in downtown Toronto, which takes place each year during the last week of June; one of the premier arts and cultural festivals in Canada. Pride Toronto exists to celebrate the history, courage, diversity and future of Toronto's LGBTTIQQ2SA* communities. Pride Week is also one of the largest Pride celebrations in the world, with an estimated attendance of over 1.2 million people. In 2014, Toronto will host WorldPride - an international celebration incorporating activism, education, and the history and culture of global LGBTTIQQ2SA* communities. It will highlight Canada's continued work in the area of human rights, and the diversity and dynamism of Toronto. WorldPride 2014 Toronto is the fourth such event, and first to be hosted in North America. The event runs from June 20-29, 2014 and is presented by Pride Toronto under license from InterPride. *LGBTTIQQ2SA is an abbreviation used to represent a broad array of identities such as, but not limited to, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, transgender, intersex, queer, questioning, two-spirited, and allies.
