With a successful track record of printing and publishing over 100 years, Spectator and Chronicle Newspapers is firmly established as one of Northern Irelands leading local newspaper groups. It provides for the needs of its readers, the local community and local businesses. The company has a long, distinguished history with The Newtownards Chronicle and County Down Spectator being established in 1874 and 1904 respectively. With offices in Newtownards and Bangor and a purpose built production facility at Balloo Industrial Estate, the Newspaper Group prides itself on being a key part of the community for which it serves. This family owned group of Newspapers is an integral part of the local community and offers in depth coverage of the news, views, social issues and sport. Most recently Spectator and Chronicle Newspapers have added to their portfolio of titles, with the introduction of a free monthly door to door "EXTRA" Newspaper and a new North Belfast community based "Shankill Extra". Additionally we publish two specialist monthly supplements, "Junior" and "Hot Property" for young families and house hunters respectively. Owned by the Alexander family Spectator and Chronicle Newspapers are the only newspaper group in The United Kingdom to Design , Print , Publish and Distribute all under one roof.
