THE NEW 42ND STREET, INC. is the nonprofit organization that oversees the redevelopment of seven historic theaters on 42nd Street (between 7th and 8th Avenues) and operates these three projects: THE NEW VICTORY THEATER is New York City's first and only full-time performing arts theater for kids, their families and classmates. Since it opened in 1995, The New Victory has quickly become an integral part of the cultural landscape in New York City, presenting a full season of adventurous multidisciplinary works from around the globe and close to home. THE NEW 42ND STREET STUDIOS building is a state-of-the-art, 10-story rehearsal studio/office/theater complex comprised of the New 42nd Street Studios and The Duke on 42nd Street theater. Opened in 2000, the New 42nd Street Studios is considered the premier rehearsal space in all of New York City, serving a vast and diverse group of nonprofit dance, theater and opera groups, as well as commercial Broadway musicals and plays. THE DUKE ON 42ND STREET is an intimate 200-seat black box theater that opened in 2000 and is rented throughout the year to domestic and international producing and presenting organizations. Companies presenting at The Duke on 42nd Street include Playwright's Realm, Red Bull Theater, Primary Stages, Transport Group, Theatre for a New Audience, Lincoln Center Theater LCT3, The Royal Court Theatre, Steppenwolf Theater Company, Armitage Gone! Dance, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Naked Angels, Classical Theater of Harlem and the National Theater of Great Britain.
