Established in 1998, GayTravel.com is number one in organic search results, social media and has a long well established following via its weekly e-newsletter. Why LGBT Travelers? The purchasing power of the LGBT community is unquestionable. As a group, they represent a collective $790 billion dollars in buying power, with a greater percentage of that being in discretionary income than the general public. It is estimated that the LGBT travel market is worth more than $84.5 billion dollars. When it comes to purchasing decisions 78% of this audience, with above average incomes and levels of education, are highly influenced by companies that advertise in LGBT media. From these, 39% say companies that promote to the LGBT community strongly impact their decisions when booking travel. Furthermore, 64% will tell a friend about a company or brand if they have a positive experience, with 40% liking that business on Facebook.
