BrisDoc was launched in 2001 by a team of local GPs committed to improving the care of their patients when their surgeries were closed. Over a decade later, this NHS service now employs in excess of 400 local people to provide a variety of award winning healthcare to the people of North Somerset, South Gloucestershire and Bristol, 24 hours a day. BrisDoc has its roots firmly in the local NHS health economy and continues to be owned and run by its workforce, most of whom live and work in the community we serve. The range of health care BrisDoc provides now includes: A GP Out of Hours Service – for urgent care when your regular surgery is closed. GP Support Services at the Bristol Royal Infirmary and Southmead Hospital work within the Ambulatory Care Team to assess, diagnose and identify the most appropriate care pathway for the patient, providing day assessment and medical care, giving patients more options to be managed without being admitted into hospital. Broadmead Medical Centre – our city centre, extended hours GP Practice and Walk-in service. Northville Family Practice – GP surgery serving patients in the BS7 area. Nurse-led outreach teams – going out into the community to treat vulnerable patients. Clinical Guardian – an award winning clinical governance system which has been adopted by many other organisations as a model of best practice. These services enable BrisDoc to offer 24/7 health care with a focus on supporting patient care in the community wherever possible.
