The YMCA National Centre Lakeside is one of the largest outdoor education centre's in Europe, set in an area of outstanding beauty in the heart of the English Lake District. We have access to over 450 acres of private woodland estate bordered by a mile of shoreline onto Lake Windermere, it is considered one of the finest located outdoor centres in the world. We are part of Fylde Coast YMCA and affiliated to YMCA England The Centre has over 60 years experience of pioneering and delivering quality training and development programmes to different School, Youth and Adult groups, providing a unique, safe and challenging location. The Centre is a not for profit organisation and educational charity that inspires people to fulfil their potential through challenging outdoor activities supported by facilitation workshops. Lakeside pioneered Leadership and Management Development training programmes by working with many organisations such as Alcan, Civil Aviation Authority, Corning, GEC, Greater Manchester Police, ICI, Merseyside Fire Services, NSK bearings, Shell UK, Thorn Heating, and Vickers.Shipbuilding in the '60's and '70's. Lakeside continues to work with large and small organisations, providing these very powerful and effective development opportunities and delivering sustained personal and organisational change. Specific programmes are available for young people transitioning from pupil to adult. Specifically 'Self-led learners', 5 days, 'Apprentice development', 5 days and 'Graduate development', 5 days. Each encourages and supports the delegate to take greater responsibility for their own decisions, accepting challenge as an opportunity, and learning how to achieve results with and through their colleagues. Other programmes are tailored to the learning outcomes required. from Supervisors learning how to lead and manage people, through to team performance development for a team of senior managers.
