Our mission is to serve the citizens of Orange County and our guests with integrity, honesty, fairness and professionalism. We are committed to transparency, accountability and engaging our citizens in the decision making process to earn their trust and improve our quality of life. Orange County is truly the best place in the world to live, learn, work and raise a family. Today, Orange County is home to more than 1.2 million residents, and welcomes more than 68 million visitors annually. We are the number one, world-wide destination for tourism and travel, generating more than $187 million in tourist development taxes. Created in 1988 as one of the first county charter governments in Florida, Orange County is a "strong mayor" form of government, led by an elected, non-partisan Mayor and is served by six district-elected County Commissioners. Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs provides overall strategic direction for Orange County's future – including the development of a comprehensive and far-reaching Sustainability Plan – and serves as CEO for the organization, including administration of an annual budget of more than $3.4 billion, with 88 divisions and 7,658 employees.
