The first goal of the Project is to teach you how good your services are right now, especially compared to pills. We will send links to videos, blog posts, PDF's and more. You will be informed and entertained. As you learn how helpful therapy is, you can share it with the public. They can learn how therapy addresses the real cause of most mental disorders, while pills just mask the symptoms. They will understand why therapy brings healing that lasts. If you are in private practice, you can share this information, and draw many clients into your practice. There will be coaching programs to guide you, step by step, to filling your practice fast. If you are in a public agency, you can use this knowledge to advocate for your services with funders and others. The second goal is to reclaim pre-eminence in treating most mental disorders. 30 years ago, if people were treated for depression, then 71% of the time, they were in therapy. Now, that is 37%. Everyone else is taking pills. Yet 3 times as many people prefer therapy over pills!! We need to win back the ground we lost. There are 847,000 credentialed therapists in the US. That is 10 times the number of drug reps. If we therapists unite, we can get the message out about the primacy of therapy.
