Founded in 1880, the Guildhall School is a vibrant, international community of young musicians, actors and theatre technicians in the heart of the City of London. We produce outstanding graduates whose talents light up stages and concert platforms throughout the world. Over 900 students follow programmes in music, acting and technical theatre at the Guildhall School. Junior Guildhall caters for over 400 talented young musicians and actors from 4 to 18 and we have an unrivalled community engagement programme, Guildhall Connect, which won a Queen's Anniversary Prize in 2005 and is now part of the joint Guildhall Schoolâ€”Barbican Creative Learning Division. The quality and professionalism of our opera programme was also recognised by a further Queen's Anniversary Prize in 2007. Every year members of the public can attend over 300 concerts, recitals, masterclasses, plays, operas and musicals at the School, and follow the progress of talented young artists as they realise their full potential in the unique environment offered here. Students experience working to professional standards with an exemplary pool of outstanding directors, conductors, coaches and tutors. Looking to the future, we have now embarked on the transformational Milton Court project. The new building, located over the road from the Silk Street building, will give the School much-needed additional premises including a new concert hall, training theatre, studio theatre and space for teaching and rehearsing.
