The mission of Open eHealth is to create, perpetuate, and share open source software components and tools for the healthcare ICT industry. Community members and users are those enterprises who seek to deliver and sustain high quality open interoperable healthcare ICT applications, integrate or extend existing applications built as a whole or in part from Open eHealth provided services or components. Open eHealth believes it is important to use open standards and an integrative flexible software architecture to eliminate the barriers that prevent the healthcare IT industry from being easily interoperable, customizable and adaptable to the ever evolving healthcare continuum. Open eHealth strives to provide community and thought leadership to the healthcare IT industry and the citizen users of healthcare services worldwide to become more efficient and innovative in data sharing and processing for improving clinical outcomes and patient safety. Providing an own community platform, Open eHealth hosts several projects that develop specific components and tools that will help to implement functionalities based on open Healthcare IT standards.
