For over 60 years, the Family Guidance Center (FGC) has worked to meet the complex needs of Central New Jersey's most vulnerable families and individuals. Our affordable, dedicated programming includes behavioral health, special education, homelessness prevention, and financial wellness initiatives. As a multi-service agency, FGC offers exceptional community-based services that produce life-changing outcomes for our clients. Each year, from four locations in Mercer County, FGC professional staff members assist over 4,000 children, adults and seniors from diverse religious, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. Our counseling and crisis intervention programs provide children and adults living with mental illness and addictions with programs that help them live healthier lives, and Financial Wellness programs help families gain financial and housing stability. Our Trenton-based programs offer counseling, advocacy and support to over 3,000 individuals along the life cycle – from compassionate pre-natal education, to supportive case management and detail-oriented Medicare assistance programs for seniors. The agency also operates the Children's Day School, a private school for children with special education classifications. Family Guidance Center is accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children, Inc; is licensed by the NJ Departments of Banking, Human Services, and Health and Senior Services; and is a member of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling, and the Association of Schools and Agencies for the Handicapped.
