Mission--"Trevecca Nazarene University is a Christian community providing higher education for leadership and service."
Founded in 1901 and located in Nashville, Tennessee, Trevecca Nazarene University is in its 107th year of providing Christian higher education. With a long and rich history, Trevecca is enjoying an exciting present and making plans for an even more exciting future.
Located only a few minutes from downtown Nashville, "Music City, U.S.A.," Trevecca offers students the best of two worlds--the advantages of a small-campus community set near the excitement and bustle of a metropolis. Trevecca's 2,300+ students are able to enjoy all that Nashville has to offer for those who want enrichment and/or recreation--a first-class art museum, an expanded/improved public library, music venues, shopping, sports, and other attractions.
Important features of Trevecca
Meaning of the name Trevecca--House of Rebecca; a binding together in love
Trevecka is the name of a school, a castle, and a village in Wales (all in the same area). The school, established in 1768 by Lady Huntingdon, was an effort to "bring together" followers of Arminius and John Wesley. Trevecca's founder, J. O. McClurkan, probably chose that name because he, too, saw the value of both ways of thinking and because he believed that name was appropriate for a nonsectarian holiness school.
Its goal for its students Trevecca empowers students to "make the leap" as they discover and develop their talents and gifts and determine the best ways to use those talents and gifts.
