WXXI the essential, life-long educational public media resource for the Greater Rochester area. It is Rochester's Public Broadcaster, serving the greater metropolitan and Finger Lakes area. A jointly operating PBS and NPR affiliate, WXXI delivers national and local news as well as the highest caliber of award-winning educational programming. WXXI relies on individual membership and corporate support to sustain its momentum and mission. Its digital television stations include: WXXI-TV 21.1 / cable 1011(PBS), and two other sub-carriers on Ch. 21.2/cable 524 and Ch. 21.3/cable 433. Radio stations it operates include: WXXI-AM 1370 (NPR/News+Talk); WXXI-FM 91.5 (Classical) and WXXY-FM 90.3 in Houghton, NY (Classical); WRUR-FM 88.5 (AAA/NPR); WITH-FM 90.1 in Ithaca, NY (AAA/NPR); and WEOS-FM 89.7 in Geneva , NY (AAA/NPR); Reachout Radio (reading service for the blind); and two digital-HD subcarrier stations. It's Educational Outreach Center delivers education and information to the community through instructional programming, Ready To Learn, GED Connections, on-demand educational video, outreach initiatives and local educational productions. WXXI also has a long-time formal affiliation with the Little Theatre, an independent movie house that presents American independent and foreign films, visual arts and music for the greater Rochester community.
