LIFESTEPS COUNCIL ON ALCOHOL AND DRUGS has provided substance abuse prevention, intervention, counseling and educational services in Williamson County, Texas, since 1978. Mission: Our mission is to eliminate substance abuse through prevention, intervention, counseling, education, and family services. LifeSteps offers the following services and programs: SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION COALITION - The grassroots effort seeks to raise drug awareness, reduce youth access and advocate for polices and laws that will help reduce alcohol, prescription medication and marijuana abuse. PREGNANT AND POSTPARTUM INTERVENTION (WEE CARE PROGRAM) - Provides parenting classes, counseling, parent/child activities, referrals and case management for pregnant and post-partum clients in McLennan, Travis and Williamson counties. P.A.D.R.E. PROGRAM - Helps to manage specific needs and give the chance to learn from and with other fathers about being a nurturing parent. FIT FAMILIES-IN-TRANSITION - Provides a safe structured environment for children and family members. The program offers supervised visitation, off-site visits and neutral exchanges. COOPERATIVE PARENTING - An educational program focused on the needs of children who have divorced, separated or never married parents. ALCOHOL AND DRUG EDUCATION CLASSES - LifeSteps offers education programs designed specifically for alcohol and/or drug related charges. Classes include: alcohol awareness program for minors, DWI education, drug offender and repeat offender education. CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY ASSESSMENTS - Provided by a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) to determine the most appropriate level of treatment, education and referrals.
