Founded in 1939, HFUW is Central Florida's largest supporter of local health and human service agencies. It also operates the United Way 2-1-1 information, referral and crisis helpline, the United Way Volunteer Resource Center, the Gifts in Kind Center, the Ryan White Part B/General Revenue Program and the Stewardship program. In 2008, HFUW adopted a bold new strategic direction focused on prevention. Known as Investing in Results, the initiative is guiding United Way's work to move the needle in four critical impact areas: Developing Healthy Children and Families Building Safe Communities Improving Financial Stability Alleviating Hunger and Homelessness Mission To improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of our communities. Vision To engage all citizens to work together to build healthy, safe, caring, and strong communities.
